Jhanpa Union is located on the banks of the river Kototak. Here the existence of the now-defunct Kopotakha river is found now. As a branch of its current, Jhao Bawr maps the maps on the map of Bangladesh. And many canals are attached to this bore. These canals consist of about 45 acres of land. One of the canals flows in front of the Union Parishad and got mixed in the field. The other flowed through the village of Manikganj and got mixed up. The common people derive cooking water, fish and seasonal crops, paddy etc. from there.
Based on the canals and rivers, many families perform their livelihood. Many fishermen choose to earn their livelihood and fishing as a profession.
